Status: In Committee as of January 2024.

Requires schools to test drinking water every 2 years, install certified filters on regularly used fountains and faucets, and go through specific protocols if lead levels exceed 5 parts per billion (ppm)

NJ Lead Service Line Replacement

Status: Currently Enacting

Requires every public water system to identify, publicly report, and fully replace all lead and galvanized service lines by 2031.

Status: Passed Assembly (both houses) as of December 2025. 

Requires licensed healthcare officials to test pregnant patients for lead, notify them of risks and test household members under six for lead, and ensure data confidentiality.

A572/S988 Requires N.J. Department of Energy (DOE) and the N.J. Department of Children and Families (DCF) to create online reporting systems for schools/child care centers to report lead testing results.
